Gqeberha Mentorship Programme Empowers Next Generation of Women

The Vision4 Women mentorship programme in Gqeberha is helping young girls unlock their potential through guidance and life-changing opportunities.

During the Vision4 Women Appreciation Dinner on November 30, Professor Zoleka Soji highlighted the transformative power of mentorship, calling it a “guiding light” that creates a network of support, growth, and encouragement.

Founded in 2011 by Nosi Ncoyo, Vision4 Women supports girls from under-resourced schools with mentorship, camps, workshops, and life-skills events. The programme, which has expanded to Kariega and Humansdorp, pairs participants with volunteer mentors who provide both academic and personal guidance.

One success story comes from Asemahle Ntingo, a Destiny Helper who is now studying Information Technology at Mandela University, thanks to the programme’s impact.

More than 90% of Vision4 Women participants pass their matric exams, with many achieving distinctions and 60% graduating with a bachelor’s pass. For mentors like Connie Hoffman, the programme is about building strong relationships with the girls’ families to create a supportive environment.

Professor Soji sums it up: “Mentorship is more than just offering advice. It’s about showing up for others and helping them see their potential.”
