Dark Moon: The Blood Altar Feels Like Wattpad Energy… But Make It K-pop

Faziela Harris-Davids

I finally gave Dark Moon: The Blood Altar a watch and I need to talk about it immediately, because this show genuinely feels like someone reached directly into my teenage Wattpad history and said, “yes… but make it K-pop.”

Now, to be fair, my K-pop bias list is a little different. I’m more into BTS, Stray Kids and Ateez. So I honestly thought I’d be fine. I thought I wouldn’t spiral too much since the story is based on the lore surrounding Enhypen and particularly their iconic music video for the song Drunk-Dazed.

And listen.

I love it.

Gothic drama, supernatural boys and emotional stares

Dark Moon is unapologetically dramatic in the best way possible.

Brooding boys with supernatural secrets? Check.
A heroine who somehow finds herself tangled in a destiny far bigger than she expected? Check.
Emotional stares that last just a second too long? Absolutely check.

And then there’s the supernatural twist. The series brings together beautiful vampires and equally beautiful werewolves inspired by &Team, creating a world where mystery, danger and romance constantly collide.

The entire show feels like pure y/n fanfiction energy… just elevated.

That Wattpad energy we all remember

The story leans hard into its gothic aesthetic with vampires, secrets and that constant feeling that something dangerous is lurking just beneath the surface.

And the boys? They are written with exactly the level of tortured intensity that makes you think, oh no… I fear I would make terrible decisions here.

But honestly, what really sells it is the vibe.

It’s girly in the best possible way. The kind of show where you’re kicking your feet while watching, giggling at the tension, and pausing every few minutes to message your friends like:
“Wait… why was that scene actually kind of romantic?”

Dramatic? Yes. But that’s the whole point

Is it dramatic? Yes.
Is it a little indulgent? Also yes.

But that is exactly the point.

Dark Moon understands that sometimes we are not looking for subtle storytelling. Sometimes we want longing looks, supernatural chaos and characters who feel like they stepped straight out of a late-night fanfiction spiral.

And honestly? I respect that.

If you grew up reading Wattpad at 2am, if you like your fantasy a little angsty, and if the phrase “mysterious supernatural boy with a tragic past” still still works on you… you will absolutely eat this up.

Final verdict

10/10 for the girls who were once y/n.
