South African comedy fans in Nelson Mandela Bay can look forward to an evening of laughter later this year as multi-award-winning comedian Dalin Oliver brings his brand-new stand-up show, Stuck in Dubai, to Gqeberha on 6 November.
The performance forms part of Oliver’s biggest national tour to date, following the show’s acclaimed debut at the 2026 National Arts Festival in Makhanda, where it earned him his third National Arts Festival Ovation Award.
The nationwide tour officially launches with a Cape Town season from 21 July to 1 August, before making its way across South Africa and onto international stages in London and Sweden.
Inspired by one unforgettable travel disaster
While the title Stuck in Dubai hints at airport chaos, Oliver says the show is ultimately about embracing life’s unexpected twists and finding humour in the moments that don’t go according to plan.
“Every comedian hopes life hands them stories worth telling,” says Oliver.
“I definitely didn’t expect getting stranded to become the inspiration for an entire show. Looking back now, what felt incredibly stressful at the time has become one of the funniest experiences of my life.”
Known for blending sharp observations, relatable storytelling and high-energy performances, Oliver says this is his most personal comedy show yet.
“I’ve toured before, but this feels different. This is my biggest tour yet, both in terms of the number of cities and what the show means to me personally. I genuinely feel this is my strongest show yet.”
From the classroom to international comedy stages
A former teacher turned full-time comedian, Oliver has become one of South Africa’s best-known comedy performers over the past decade.
His career has taken him to audiences in 10 countries and more than 25 international cities. Along the way, he has earned a Fringe World Festival Award, three National Arts Festival Ovation Awards, three Comics Choice Comedy Award nominations and recognition as one of the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans.
Many South Africans will also recognise him from appearances on Showmax, DStv and Comedy Central Africa, while rugby fans know him as the host of the Late Late Tackle with the Springboks podcast.
Gqeberha date confirmed
Comedy lovers in Nelson Mandela Bay can catch Stuck in Dubai in Gqeberha on 6 November.
Other South African tour stops include Hilton, Kimberley, Bloemfontein, St Francis Bay, Knysna, Sedgefield, Paarl, Durban, Johannesburg, Strand, KuGompo City and Stellenbosch, while the international leg includes performances at London’s Bitesize Festival and Sweden’s Stockholm Fringe.
Oliver says one of the greatest joys of touring is discovering how every audience brings something unique to the performance.
“Whether you’re watching in Cape Town, Johannesburg or a small town you’ve never visited before, we’re all laughing about the same human experiences. That’s what makes live comedy so special.”
Tickets are available through individual venue ticketing platforms and via www.dalinoliver.com.
Why this matters for Nelson Mandela Bay
