Career Indaba’s New Advisory Board Brings Big Energy to the Future of Work – Here’s Why It Matters

Career Indaba, one of Africa’s leading platforms driving real conversations around employment, education, and youth opportunity, has just announced the appointment of its new Strategic Advisory Board. The move signals major developments ahead for young people navigating South Africa’s challenging job market.

The 20-member board was officially inaugurated on 11 July 2025 in collaboration with the Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA). Over the next five years, they will guide Career Indaba’s direction, including flagship initiatives like the Career Indaba Expo and Bootcamp on 12 and 13 September 2025, the Career Indaba Radio show, and its digital media platforms.

For those in Nelson Mandela Bay and similar under-resourced areas, this is significant. Career Indaba has consistently acted as more than just an event platform. It connects stakeholders across industries to tackle real issues such as youth unemployment, outdated education models, and the disconnect between schools and the world of work.

With board members bringing expertise in labour, education, technology, youth development, policy, and entrepreneurship, this is more than a symbolic appointment. It reflects a focused strategy to amplify impact and include youth at the centre of economic transformation.

Key priorities of the Board include:

  • Shaping Career Indaba’s strategic direction
  • Advocating for inclusive and responsive skills development
  • Strengthening partnerships across sectors
  • Prioritising innovation and measurable impact

The Board has also formed four key committees to support focused delivery:
