041Online editor Eleanor Douglas-Meyers will be among the speakers at the Creators Hub Online Summit, returning online on 23 and 24 April 2026 with a lineup focused on the realities of content creation today.
The two day online summit brings together creators and industry professionals from South Africa and Kenya to discuss topics including user generated content (UGC), podcasting, blogging, burnout, authenticity, and working with brands.
Douglas-Meyers will speak about collaboration between creators and brands, while also sharing her own experience rebuilding her platform after being hacked, a moment that ultimately led to the creation of the 041Online digital magazine.
The summit highlights how creators across Africa are building communities, exploring new business models, and creating work that connects with audiences in meaningful ways.
Across two days, attendees will hear from creators and industry professionals sharing practical advice, lived experience, and honest insight into what it takes to build a sustainable online platform. Each batch of speakers will be available free for 24 hours, with the option to upgrade for full access to the recordings.
A current look at content creation
The 2026 summit focuses on conversations already happening in the creator economy. Topics include the pressure to constantly produce content, the importance of staying authentic online, the rise of UGC, and the value of building a platform that lasts beyond a single post or campaign.
Sessions are designed to offer practical ideas creators can apply immediately while also encouraging long term thinking about digital careers.
UGC, influencer content and an African UGC vision
Nick Duncan from Lit will speak about the difference between UGC and traditional influencer content. Drawing on insights from the more than 20,000 creators on Lit’s platform, his session explores how brands and creators can use both formats more effectively.
Kenya based creator Lakeisha Mugo from UGC Creator Circle will host a live Zoom session on 23 April. Her work focuses on building and training UGC creators across Kenya and South Africa after working in the industry overseas. Her session adds a strong regional perspective to the summit and reflects her goal of building an African UGC community.
Podcasting with purpose
Podcast host Sean Loots will share insights on launching and growing a podcast with intention. His session covers the practical steps needed to get a podcast started while also exploring the personal motivations behind storytelling.
Loots hosts the podcast Something Shifted, where he speaks with guests about major turning points in their lives. He also reflects on how life with his special needs daughter has shaped his outlook and taught him to value small wins.
Motivation, burnout and finding the right rooms
Two speakers from the She-e-o Workshop will focus on the emotional realities of being a creator.
Bernadene Oosthuizen, known online as @your_motivationalcoach, will discuss the power of community and how being in the right spaces can help creators grow their social media presence.
Alethea Ross, also known as @her_mindset_mentor, will speak about burnout and how creators can regain motivation when the pressure to keep producing content becomes overwhelming.
Authenticity, boundaries and self worth beyond the numbers
Content creator Terrance Mentor, known as @afrodaddyct, will speak about the risks of tying self worth to metrics such as likes and views. His session encourages creators to rethink how they measure success and progress.
Lifestyle blogger Rebecca Badrodin from @inthesestilettos will explore authenticity in a curated digital world. Her session highlights that being authentic does not mean sharing everything and that creators still have the right to set boundaries around what they choose to show online.
Collaboration and working with brands
During her session, Eleanor Douglas-Meyers will share practical tips on collaboration between creators and brands. Her talk will also reflect on how rebuilding her online presence after being hacked led to the launch of 041Online, which has grown into a digital magazine covering people, places, and happenings in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Samantha Curley-Young from Captive Conversations will also share insights on brand partnerships. Her experience working both as a creator and as a PR professional gives her a unique perspective on what brands look for when working with content creators.
Small steps and building long term authority
Kenyan creator Awino Awiti will speak about building momentum through small steps. Her message encourages creators not to wait for perfection and to recognise that the stage they are currently in already connects with an audience.
Heather Step will focus on blogging as a tool for building authority online. Her session highlights why creators benefit from owning a space on the internet, especially as brands often research potential collaborators before offering partnerships. She will also share tips for creating an About Page that supports credibility and visibility.
