Why You Should Consider Redefining Your Business Vision

There comes a time in any business that where you question your vision and original intentions 041business columnist Gerald Pietersen explains why this is not a bad thing.

I have had moments where I thought, “Why am I doing this?”, and “Is it really worth it?”
The first thing that I then realise is that it is okay to have these thoughts, as it leads you into
reflecting on the purpose of starting your business.

This allows you to consider redefining the vision and doing a sanity check as to whether you are still
on the right track. The end goal that also ensures stability is that it is aligned to the big picture.
It will always come across as daunting to consider redefining your vision, as it may require a level of
adaptability and moving out of your comfort zone.

Redefining your vision may not even be a situation of changing your product or offering, but rather
how to adapt your marketing or sales strategy.

Think of it as an opportunity to rediscover your purpose and motives in doing business. These
thoughts, and reflections opens you up for growth. As it is said, “Growth is relative to exposure”
When I had to redefine the vision of one of the businesses, it was a sensitive process as it felt like I
did not accomplish what I’ve set out to do. Once I got over myself, I realized that growth is
inevitable, painful, and necessary.

The vision has developed into one sentence that focuses on our position, the function we fulfil and
the outcome we desire to achieve. It’s that simple.

The next, and more difficult process is working on the vision for my life and ensuring there is action
to this.

Know that as tough as change is, it is a necessary process.
