GAMES AND TREATS FOR THE ELDERLY ON MADIBA DAY

The residents of the Adcock van der Vyver Old Age Home were recently treated, in celebration of Nelson Mandela Day, to a lovely morning of tea and games at the home.
Some of the students and staff of The IIE’s Varsity College Nelson Mandela Bay decided to reach out to the home and served tea and cake to some good music while playing games with the elderly. This resulted in the sharing of some great stories and good laughs.
“It was a blessed day, especially more so because it was my birthday and was extra special.

All the residents would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts – it was a great day because of you all!”, said Cathy Francis, resident at Adcock van der Vyver old age.

The Adcock van der Vyver Old Age Home currently has 88 residents. The home forms part
of ACVV South Africa – one of the oldest non-profit organisations in South Africa in the
social services field. One of the ACVV’s focus areas is older persons and special needs
programmes to be able to enhance the well-being and independence of older persons and
