Unu Health Celebrates South Africa’s Leading Women in Healthcare

In honour of Women’s Month and to recognize the extraordinary contributions made by women in South Africa’s healthcare sector, Unu Health proudly celebrates six pioneering women who have significantly advanced women’s health across the nation. These exceptional leaders embody innovation, advocacy, and empowerment, driving Unu Health’s mission forward.

Tania Joffe, Founder of Unu Health, emphasizes the importance of this recognition, stating, “At Unu Health, we are committed to acknowledging the profound impact women have in shaping the future of healthcare. Bridget McNulty

As the co-founder of Sweet Life Diabetes Community, Bridget McNulty is a beacon of hope and education for those living with diabetes in South Africa. Diagnosed with diabetes herself, Bridget founded Sweet Life in 2011 to simplify diabetes education and build a supportive community. Her advocacy, through the Diabetes Alliance, has influenced policy and raised international awareness. Honoured by Heavy Chef as one of South Africa’s top five women entrepreneurs, Bridget’s work is pivotal in reducing diabetes stigma and improving lives.

Gqibelo Dandala

Founder of One to One Africa, Gqibelo Dandala has devoted her career to revolutionizing healthcare for vulnerable communities. Her organization provides essential health services to rural women and children, focusing on maternal and child health, HIV prevention, and sexual health education. Gqibelo’s impact on South Africa’s most underserved populations makes her a true champion of healthcare equality.

Alexandra Miszewski

A leader in biotechnology, Alexandra Miszewski founded Novita Biotechnology and Regenesis Vet, pioneering innovative treatments that are transforming disease care. Alexandra’s groundbreaking work is set to change millions of lives worldwide, exemplifying the powerful intersection of technology and healthcare.

Dr. Elna Rudolph

Sexologist and medical doctor Dr Elna Rudolph is a key figure in women’s health in South Africa. Through her clinics focused on sexual health and wellness, she has dismantled barriers and provided crucial care to women nationwide. Dr. Rudolph’s work empowers women to take control of their health, especially in areas often stigmatized.

Leah Jazz

5FM radio presenter Leah Jazz uses her platform to challenge societal norms and advocate for women’s health and empowerment. By addressing taboo topics like sexuality and health, Leah is normalizing these conversations and encouraging women to embrace their bodies and well-being.

Liezl Smith

Media personality Liezl Smith is a fierce advocate for social justice, health, and wellness. Through her podcast, “Kuier Met Liezl,” and initiatives like the #Donate-a-pad campaign, she has had a tangible impact on women and girls in underserved communities, becoming a voice for positive change.
