Secret Santa Tips With Locally Yours

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – six weeks to Christmas. A year for giving and sharing and the dreaded Secret Santa that brings both smiles and a touch of anxiety to our offices every year.ย

While it truly does bring people the warmth and fuzzies to share a gift with someone after a rather tough year, it is quite a challenge to easily find something for someone that you might not know too well. So, here are a few tips to get you through your Secret Santa shopping.

Stick to the budget

There aren’t any brownie points awarded to someone for going above budget. The limit on your spending is put there to make it possible for everyone involved to participate. Buying a gift way over budgetย can make those who stuck to the budget feel a little like underachievers and that’s not quite the vibe we’re aiming for over the festive season.

Don’t go too Christmassy

Unless you know that the person you’re buying for is all for decking the halls and loves Christmas goodies, rather steer clear of buying the newest nativity scene. Adding a simple tree ornament to your gift might be a nice touch, especially if you can personalize it, but try to aim for a useful or edible gift.

Edible gifts

Bring on all those sweet treats or saucy spoils that you don’t add to your regular shopping list. The festive season is for feasting and what better way to embrace that than delectable treats that you don’tย normally get yourself?

Something useful

We always made fun of people getting socks for Christmas, but is that so bad? A pair of funky socks, some hand cream, or even a bespoke soap that can be added to your Secret Santa gift.

Locally Yours has various gifts that are under R150 and are sure to bring Christmas cheer
