021correspondent Faziela Harris-Davids looks at the upcoming Sacred Rage event taking place at The Sanctuary in Constantia on December 10.
Holistic health is more than a buzz word these days, especially during a time where the stigma around mental health is constantly being broken down . With this comes the emergence of various offerings for more spiritual and holistic healing practices. It was on this very journey that I came across Storm from Joyventures and Yusra from Sounds of Healing, who offer yoga and sound healing respectively.
Offering a safe space for women (and men) to be present for themselves. Whether it be through a guided nature walk or hike up Table Mountain, this year they combined forces to create Rising Wild and managed to host their very first Elemental Retreat. I chatted to them about their upcoming event, Sacred Rage and this is what they had to say.
What inspires Rising Wild?

Rising Wild is inspired by ancient wisdoms and we are inspired by the women of today who are yearning for community, truth and sisterhood. Reclaiming traditions of soul love, holistic healing and supportive womanhood. We also create spaces for both men and women to heal together. Rising Wild is also inspired by our own difficult experiences in life and witnessing the hardships in the world which drives us to wanting to create spaces, communities and a world that feels safe for all, where everyone has a true sense of belonging without feeling judged by themselves or others. We are inspired by our ancestors and the fight there has been for liberation and continuing that by paving a path for remembrance, for inner love and for healing on every level.
Why an event focused on anger?
History alone shows us the world’s unhealthy relationship with anger and what that has manifested into collectively and individually. In order to shift that relationship, we need to address it. And we have been called to do that and unlearn the suppression and denial of this emotion and most importantly learning how to honour it, sit with it, move through it and alchemize it into something life-giving like love, courage, justice and positive change in the world and in our lives.
What can one expect from a Sacred Rage?
A safe space where we will use practices to help us honour our rage, to be with it and not be afraid of it and move through it so that it doesn’t become a blockage in the body. You can expect to learn embodiment tools to take with you and integrate into your everyday life like mindful movement and voice activation as well as being held with the medicine of sound healing and sharing in a container of sacred sisterhood so that you’re able to leave feeling held and seen.
Who is the focus audience for your events for Rising Wild?
Our audience is whoever feels a sacred yes to this space. Witnessing previous events, we have a powerful presence of women, specifically women of colour, of all ages.
We have events for women only and events for all.
What does Rising Wild intend to achieve with events like these that can have a rather intense outcome?
We intend to walk people home to their inherent wisdom. Everyone will experience something different. We are committed to offering complimentary after care sessions. Ensuring that our intention to invite healing into our hearts and communities is followed through with care and practical support.
We have our clients best interest at the forefront of our hearts and minds when planning any workshop, we prepare for intensity, we create a safe container to witness it and we follow through with nurturing practices to safely close the container.
