Plettenberg Bay is gearing up for a lively Easter season, with a packed calendar of events celebrating everything from food and wine to adventure sports, music and family entertainment.
Whether visitors are looking for a relaxed coastal escape or a weekend filled with activity, the Garden Route favourite is offering something for everyone over the holiday period.
Food, markets and Easter celebrations
Food lovers will find plenty to explore throughout the Easter period.
The Waves, Wine & Olives experience at Beacon Island highlights some of the Garden Route’s best flavours, while the Old Nick Village Easter Market offers artisanal products, handmade goods and local treats.
Several restaurants and venues are also hosting their own Easter-themed celebrations. Barrington’s and Moss & Maple will host dedicated Easter events designed for families looking to enjoy good food and a festive atmosphere.
For a unique outdoor cinema experience, Movies at the Beach will screen classics including The Princess Bride and Hop right on the sand under the stars.
Adventure and sport in the spotlight
For those looking for a more active Easter weekend, the popular BUCO Adventure Weekend returns this year at Royston Farms. The event features trail runs and multisport challenges that attract both competitive athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.
The equestrian calendar is equally exciting, with several polo tournaments taking place over the holiday period.
Meanwhile, the Ocean Blue Cup, taking place from 16 to 19 April 2026, will bring top-level showjumping to Plettenberg Bay. The competition forms part of the Knight Frank Championship Series and also includes the South African Showjumping Rising Star Rider Series, which showcases emerging talent in the sport.
Art, music and creative events
Plett’s creative community is also taking centre stage during the holiday season.
Local artist Terry Zoeller will present an exhibition at Le Fournil de Plett, while music fans can catch Watershed live at The White House Theatre.
For theatre lovers, the musical tribute Any Dream Will Do will take place at Greenwood Bay College.
One of the more whimsical experiences on the calendar is the Mad Hatters Tea Party, where high tea meets downtempo music in a fantastical garden setting inspired by the classic Alice in Wonderland theme.
Festivals continuing into May
The celebrations do not stop with Easter.
The Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival returns on 2 May 2026, marking 20 years of Plett Wine of Origin. The event will feature tastings from local wine estates, an oyster bar, food stalls, wine specials and live entertainment.
Leading up to the main festival, a series of smaller wine events will take place across the winelands from 25 April to 1 May.
Music fans can also look forward to Summer Splash 2026 at Kwano Stadium on 2 May. The event will showcase artists including Scott Maphuma, Mr Thela, Thatohatsi, Tracy and Prince Sotashe, blending amapiano, GQOM and Afropop-house into a high-energy evening of music and celebration.
A season of flavour and culture
Food lovers will also have something to look forward to throughout May with the Engel & Völkers Chilli Festival, running from 1 to 31 May. Participating restaurants across Plettenberg Bay will create special chilli-inspired dishes available throughout the month.
From food festivals and wine tastings to adventure sports, live music and creative experiences, Plettenberg Bay’s Easter calendar promises a vibrant season of events that captures the spirit of the Garden Route.
