I Didn’t Expect Pilates to Humble Me. Or Become One of My Favourite Parts of the Week.

041Online’s Carleen Tobias decided to give Pilates a try at Eden Wellness Studio. She expected a workout. What she didn’t expect was to find one of her favourite parts of the week.

When most people think of Pilates, they picture slow, graceful movements, calming music, and people who somehow make holding a plank look elegant.

Then there’s reality.

Reality is discovering muscles you didn’t even know existed.

I’ve laughed through classes, questioned every life decision halfway through others, and somehow left every single one feeling better than when I walked in.

That’s exactly what I found at Eden Wellness Studio.

I’d driven past the studio more times than I could count before finally deciding to give it a try, and honestly, I wish I’d done it sooner.

What I love most is that no two classes feel the same.

Some days you’re moving with the music, flowing through a class that leaves you feeling strong and energised. Other days are slower, focusing on mobility, stretching and giving your body the chance to reset. And then there are the classes that have you discovering muscles in places you genuinely didn’t know muscles existed.

Those are… character building.

The best part, though, isn’t the workout.

It’s the people.

The studio, founded by Ciska Bekker, has created a community that feels welcoming from the moment you walk through the door. Most classes are ladies only, with a mixed class available too, and regardless of which one you join, there’s a refreshing lack of pressure. Nobody cares whether you’ve done Pilates for five years or five minutes.

Everyone is simply there to move.

To get stronger.

To have fun.

As someone who’s spent a lot of time trying different ways to stay active, I’ve realised the “perfect” workout is the one you actually look forward to doing.

Some weeks you’ll want a class that leaves you dripping in sweat.

Other weeks you’ll want to stretch, breathe, and reset after a long day.

The beauty of Eden is that you don’t have to choose just one version of movement. There’s a class for every mood, every fitness level and every season you’re in.

And if you’re wondering where to start?

Have a look at their weekly class schedule on Instagram and pick the one that sounds most like you. You might walk in expecting a workout.

You might walk out wondering why your core is sore when you didn’t even realise you were using it.

Either way, I have a feeling you’ll be booking your next class before the week is over.
