Loukmaan Adams And Team Bring The Unity Foundation To Gqeberha

WELL-KNOWN South African entertainer Loukmaan Adams’s passion charity project, The Unity Foundation, has officially launched a Gqeberha section thanks to local personalities Adore Morgan and Xenny Brown.

The Unity Foundation is a community-based organisation established in 2014  to empower underprivileged children from vulnerable communities.

The organisation is run by Loukmaan and Shaakirah Adams and has branches in  Cape Town, East London and now Gqeberha.

Locally the foundation is managed by radio presenter Adore Morgan, whose personal focus is on the alleviation of hunger prevalent in many Gqeberha communities.

With this goal in mind, the local leg of the foundation launched in the city on July 1 at a soup kitchen operated by community stalwart, Hendrina Potgieter, in Helenvale.

“The launch was very successful, with many local businesses and individuals assisting with non-perishables as well as Jars of Hope, which are jars filled with ingredients such as lentils, rice, soup mix and stock cubes which, when added to boiling water, create a nutritious meal sufficient for a family of four,” said Morgan.

According to Morgan, the area was specifically chosen because, despite its reputation as a gang-infested hotspot, it is also home to a great many impoverished but hardworking families.

“It was especially heartening to see how many young people arrived in their droves to clean up the park and the surrounding verges of their own volition, something which is not an uncommon sight in Helenvale,” said Morgan.

Whilst the recipients received their meals they were entertained by the Loukmaan Adams himself along with the ever-popular Gqeberha comedian Boeta B.

Adams is no stranger to the Bay as he and his brother have family ties here and also often perform in the metro.

“Loukmaan and I have spoken about working together for over a decade but with both our busy lives we never got to do it- earlier this year we drove to Plettenberg Bay and decided this is the year to start something and make a difference in our community,” said Morgan adding that she was flattered by Adams faith in her abilities and allowing her to take the reigns.

Although the organisation’s primary goal is to establish an academy where young creatives from previously disadvantaged communities can develop and grow their potential, they also aim to assist with the alleviation of poverty.

They welcome any assistance and can be contacted on social media through their Facebook page

“As we are in the grips of one of the coldest winters on record, we would welcome assistance in the form of non-perishable foodstuffs as well as warm blankets.”
