Garden Route and Eastern Cape Cities Turn Pink for Cancer Awareness

This Saturday, October 25, the streets of George, Gqeberha, East London, and towns like Fort Beaufort will be awash in pink as thousands of participants take part in the annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer, proudly presented by Isuzu Motors South Africa.

Now in its 27th year, the event has seen a record number of entries, raising funds for causes including Siyavuka for Kids, Project Flamingo, and Reach for Recovery, according to Algoa FM Managing Director Alfie Jay.

In Gqeberha, road closures are expected along the beachfront, from the Boardwalk Hobie Beach entrance (opposite Astron) to the intersection between Admiralty Way and Marine Drive, as around 17,000 walkers cover five kilometres to support those affected by cancer. George and East London will not have any road closures.

Entertainment for both the young and young at heart will be on offer in Gqeberha, with food stalls available at all three venues. The weather forecast is ideal, making it a perfect day for walking, fundraising, and raising awareness.

This annual event continues to unite communities across the Garden Route and Eastern Cape, proving that when it comes to standing against cancer, every step counts.
