WHILE Kariega is often overlooked when it comes to national acts, award-winning South African comedian Dalin Oliver is in town, ready to bring the laughs.
Oliver who has performed both nationally and abroad visits Kariega for the third time saying that he loves the intimacy that comes with small audiences.
He will be performing at Agape Coffee shop this evening (Friday, March 24) following last night’s performance in Gqeberha.
“I am now at the stage of my life where complete strangers are calling me UNCLE! I’d like to chat about this, and some other stuff please,” says Oliver.
His latest show follows a 2022 Standard Bank Ovation award for his one-man show, Stay At Home Comedian.
The former high school teacher traded the chalkboard for a microphone in 2010 and has since travelled the country with four of his self-produced shows.
Oliver enjoyed sell-out success around the country with fellow comedians Yaaseen Barnes, Carl Weber and Kagiso Mokgadi in the four-man stand-up comedy show, Day Zero: The Water Shortage Comedy Tour. Which was well received in Toronto Canada and can be seen on DSTV Catch Up.
His work, “I Came, I Taught, I Left”, and “Face for Radio” can also be found on Showmax and are a look into why this performer has made such a splash in the South African comedy scene.
When not on stage, Oliver is a sports presenter on Good Hope FM and was one of the lead actors in the SA action comedy Finders Keepers and is also match day MC for Paarl Rocks and Cape Town Blitz during MSL.
