Sihle Ndalwentle Sonto,
Camper United FC Head Coach Loyiso ‘Loyyd’ Jack has expressed confidence in his side’s progress as the team currently sits sixth on the Stream A log with 10 points from seven matches, having registered three wins, three draws and one defeat so far this season.
“We Are on the Right Track”
Assessing the team’s performance to date, Coach Jack believes the foundation has been laid.
“So far, so good. We are still on it. We are on the right track to compete. We are getting there kancane kancane, so far so good.”
Despite not being in the top four yet, the coach insists that Camper United is building steadily and improving week by week.
No Underestimating E. Celtics FC
Camper United will host struggling E. Celtics FC this Saturday, a side currently sitting near the bottom of the table. However, Coach Jack has warned against complacency.
“At Camper United we have something we call seriousness. We compete against ourselves, we want to be better every day. Our chairman demands results, even in practice games.”
Preparations are expected to resume after a scheduled day off, with a focus on what the coach calls a “construction session” aimed at sharpening concentration and ensuring the team remains switched on.
“We will focus more on construction sessions because we want the players to be focused and ready. We want to win so that even the log leaders are disturbed.”
Areas That Need Improvement
With only one loss so far this season, Coach Jack believes turning draws into wins is now the priority.
“By now we want to start winning games. We fixed our goalkeeper department and the playmaker position, left 10, to give us balance in possession. We also needed an experienced goalkeeper to guide the defence. Now we are sorted… watch and see, kuzodlalwa.”
Pressure of Playing at Home
Playing at home brings both motivation and pressure.
“It is very important to collect points in front of our supporters, but at the same time it’s difficult because they demand results with good football, not just wins. They will criticize you until you show them quality football.”
Rising After Darkness
Coach Jack also reflected on a difficult spell earlier in the season, including a 1-0 defeat to Lion City, their first time conceding after an impressive run across league, Nedbank Cup and pre-season matches. Another painful loss followed against rivals Royal Bucks.
The back-to-back defeats affected morale, with some players losing belief.
“The boys were down as if the league was over. I told them about our logo and our motto, ‘In Darkness We Will Rise and Shine.’ I told them it’s not over until it’s over. The one who laughs last, laughs the best.”
The coach also defended their early and intense pre-season preparations in Motherwell and at the coast, saying the work will soon bear fruit.
“As a young coach, those criticisms hurt. But we prepared properly. This season Camper United will be one of those clubs competing to win Stream A.”
With belief restored and improvements made, Coach Loyiso Jack has sent a clear warning to the rest of the league:
Kuzodlalwa.
