Boardwalk Welcomes Back a Familiar Face as New General Manager

Sisulu Madondo returns to Gqeberha to lead the iconic entertainment destination he helped launch

The Boardwalk Hotel & Casino has announced the appointment of Sisulu Madondo as its new General Manager, effective 1 March 2026, marking a full-circle moment for a leader with deep ties to the city.

Madondo takes over from Tati Tsunke, who has returned to Johannesburg to be with his family. For many in Nelson Mandela Bay, however, this appointment feels less like a change and more like a homecoming.

With more than 26 years of experience in gaming and hospitality, Madondo’s career began as a trainee gaming technician at Morula Sun in the North West. He has since built an extensive portfolio across major properties, including leadership roles within the Peermont Group at Frontier Inn and Casino and Mmabatho Palms Hotel Casino Convention Resort.

He returned to Sun International in 2022, serving as gaming manager at Meropa Casino in Limpopo before moving to Sibaya Casino in Durban as slots manager in 2024. His experience also includes time at Windmill Casino in Bloemfontein and Carnival City in Gauteng.

What makes this appointment especially meaningful is Madondo’s history with Gqeberha.

“I was part of the team that first launched Boardwalk Casino in October 2000, so I am very excited to be back at this remarkable property in the friendly city,” he said. “I lived here for 10 years, and those were some of the best years of my youth. It is an honour to now return and lead the Boardwalk team.”

Madondo plans to focus on enhancing both the gaming and hospitality experience, while also reconnecting with the venue’s loyal visitors.

“I look forward to working closely with the team and personally meeting our Most Valued Guests over the next few weeks,” he added.

He holds a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a BCom degree, and recently completed an Executive Development Programme in gaming at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2025. His accolades include Best Performing General Manager by the Peermont Group in 2017 and Sun International Executive of the Year in 2023.

For Nelson Mandela Bay, his return signals renewed energy at one of the city’s most loved entertainment destinations.
