Yoga For Connecting Parents And Children Alike

OYA Yoga invites Bay families to join in on a popup yoga session to share the love of yoga with young and old on Sunday, July 30 at the Tramways building.

Oyanda Kona a qualified vinyasa yoga teacher and a meditation practitioner will guide participants through gentle, yoga poses perfect for beginners and children aged 5 years and older.

“No previous yoga experience is required, this event is all about enjoying the journey together, family yoga promotes not only physical strength and flexibility but also emotional bonding and mindfulness,” says Kona who is lovingly referred to as Oya.

Participants are asked to bring an eager attitude, a yoga mat or towel and a willingness to take part in the event.

“Yoga has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and more fearless on and off my mat. It has enabled me to connect with my body, and mind and to breathe in a way I’d never done before, ” says Oya.

The 2-hour event starts at 11 am and the Ticket (R150 for adults, R200 for adults + child) includes an R120 voucher from Charlie’s Pizza & Pasta 

“The vision is to bring families, kids and loved ones together to tap into the space of wellness using yoga, movement and meditation as the vehicle.

“We wanted to provide a sense of connection between children and parents through yoga. In this stressful environment we live in, it’s important for families to connect and develop positive coping and connecting mechanisms,” said Oya.
