If you’re still figuring out your plans for May, Boardwalk Hotel and Casino has put together a lineup that covers everything from relaxed family moments to live music experiences.
Whether you’re planning something special for Mother’s Day or looking for a night out later in the month, there are a few standout events worth adding to your calendar.
A Mother’s Day Braai with a Full Spread
Mother’s Day is always about taking a moment to appreciate the women who show up for us, and this year, Boardwalk is making it easy to do just that.
On Sunday, 10 May, guests can enjoy a curated Mother’s Day braai at Kipling’s Brasserie or Bayside Pantry, designed to make the day feel both relaxed and memorable.
Each guest is welcomed with a cocktail or non-alcoholic sparkling wine before moving into a generous multi-course spread. The menu includes fresh breads, hot and cold soups, a build-your-own salad station, as well as hearty mains like beef goulash, root vegetables in red wine, sweet potato and two potjie options, chicken and seafood.
Sides range from butternut and creamed spinach to pap and smoor, samp and beans, and rice pilaf. Dessert brings a sweet finish with Cape Malay bread and butter pudding, strawberry cheesecake and red velvet cake.
The braai runs from 1pm to 3.30pm and costs R350 per person. Bookings can be made via boadwalk.bookings@suninternational.com or by calling 041 507 7793.
A Soulful Tribute with ‘Mother’s with Melody’
If you’re looking to continue the celebration into the afternoon, ‘Mother’s with Melody’ offers a different kind of Mother’s Day experience.
Taking place at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre on Sunday, 10 May at 4pm, the show brings together powerful vocals and familiar songs in a tribute to mothers, wives and the women who play those roles in our lives.
Featuring performances by Karin Kortjie and Salomé, the show leans into themes of love, appreciation and connection, creating a warm and reflective atmosphere for audiences.
Tickets are available via Webtickets, with general access at R195, golden tickets at R295 and meet-and-greet options at R350.
An Evening of Gospel with Lebo Sekgobela
Later in the month, the focus shifts to gospel music with ‘Kept By Grace – Arise’, taking place on Saturday, 23 May at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre.
Following the success of her 2025 tour, Lebo Sekgobela returns with a performance centred on themes of resilience, gratitude and spiritual renewal. Known for her powerful voice and emotionally driven performances, the show promises an evening of music that invites reflection and celebration in equal measure.
Running from 5pm to 9pm, the event is open to anyone looking to connect through music, whether from a place of faith or simply an appreciation for the genre.
Tickets start from R250 and are available via Computicket.
Plan Ahead
With multiple events spread across the month, Boardwalk’s May calendar offers a mix of experiences that can be tailored to how you want to spend your time, whether that’s celebrating someone special, enjoying live music or simply getting out for something different.
