What We Think Of No.5 Mantis Salon Privé And Its New Menu

WE were recently invited to Salon Privé for a menu re-launch and were impressed, to say the least.

Salon Privé is a cheeky little whiskey and cigar lounge which forms part of the  No.5 by Mantis Boutique Art Hotel’s repertoire of quirky offerings.

The Boutique hotel, situated in Summerstrand, is home to a fine dining restaurant, a private dining cellar, private cinema, and a spa so it is no surprise that they have a little cocktail lounge for your use.

The lounge is open to the public and can be booked for private functions. It seats up to 30 people in a relaxed setting, includes a courtyard area and you can go up to 35 if you go with cocktail tables instead of the super comfy couches.

Last week we were privy to Privé’s (see what I did there) new menu which included treats like pulled lamb and polenta, deconstructed beef Wellington and so much more.

The menu seems to be leaning into fresh ingredients, and clean cooking, but with a gourmet twist.

How else would you describe their delectable signature burger, a tiny thing which packs a powerful punch of flavours?

Vegetables are dressed up with red wine jus, goat’s cheese and fresh herbs and meals like risotto become the cutest little bite-sized snacks.

Their menu is innovative and yummy and suddenly having  Zucchini Noodles with champagne, just makes sense.

The menu that we were served will be available at Salon Privé going forward, along with two new signature cocktails.

The No. 5 Gold and No. 5 Red. The Gold is clean and crisp with a rosemary garnish while the Red is fruity and floral, reminiscent of elderberries.

If you are more of a wine drinker they have Meridian wines in stock, each perfectly paired with the canapes.

According to Dimitri Maritz the General Manager of No.5 by Mantis they plan to host many more functions at Salon Privé and would love for the venue to become a staple in the Gqeberha eventing space.

“We want it to be a place that is welcoming to the public and a space to relax or even have whatever meetings you may want to conclude out of office”

Salon Privé is now open for bookings…
