Fashion, entertainment and community upliftment came together at the Boardwalk ICC this Women’s Month, with the 2026 Voice of Courage Fashion Show raising R66,600 for two Eastern Cape organisations.
Hosted by Boardwalk Hotel and Casino in partnership with Camelot Spa on Friday, 14 August, the event saw Yokhuselo Haven and the Community Chest of the Eastern Cape each receive R33,300.
The annual initiative uses fashion and entertainment to raise funds and awareness for organisations working within local communities, while also providing a platform for creative talent.
Fashion with a purpose
Boardwalk General Manager Sisulu Madondo said this year’s event demonstrated what could be achieved when businesses, creatives and the community worked towards a shared goal.
“This year’s Voice of Courage Fashion Show reminded us that when we come together with a shared purpose, we can make a tangible difference,” Madondo said.
“We are incredibly proud of the generosity shown by our guests, partners, designers, performers and everyone who contributed to making this evening possible.”
The funds will support two organisations providing very different but important services in the Eastern Cape.
Established in 1988, Yokhuselo Haven was Nelson Mandela Bay’s first shelter for women and children affected by domestic abuse. The organisation provides vulnerable women and children with safety, care, counselling and skills development.
The Community Chest of the Eastern Cape works with organisations and initiatives focused on sustainable community development and improving the lives of people across the province.
Local designers take to the runway
The evening also celebrated the Eastern Cape’s creative industry, with collections from Braemore Design, Carlos Fritz, JaSi Studio, NDIMBI Clothing and Nastassja L Creations showcased on the runway.
Models from Premiere Models brought the collections to life, while guests were treated to live entertainment, including a performance by Robin Pieters.
Lucia Mtshaka-Ntshona served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
Building on R60,000 raised in 2025
Voice of Courage has become a signature Women’s Month initiative for Boardwalk and Camelot Spa.
This year’s R66,600 total also represents an increase on the R60,000 raised for Yokhuselo Haven in 2025, continuing the initiative’s support for women and children in Nelson Mandela Bay.
For Madondo, however, the significance of the event extends beyond the amount raised.
“The Voice of Courage is ultimately about people,” he said.
“It is about celebrating courage, creating awareness and using what we have, in this case fashion, creativity and entertainment, to support those who need it most.”
The organisers thanked the designers, models, performers, production teams, sponsors, media partners, guests and supporters who contributed to this year’s event.
