Upgrade Your Make-up Look With Lancome This Spring

041Beauty columnist Busisiwe Nxele visited Woolworths Walmer Park’s beauty section for one of their most popular offerings an in-store makeover.

Ahh spring! The season to be airy, flowery and and full of colour! It’s time to put away the nudes, the beiges, and the browns and add a pop of colour to your overall look, including your make-up. To get myself ready for this transition, I paid a visit to the good people at Woolworths Beauty, Walmer Park branch, and had a chat with Ashlynne Felix, a certified Lancome makeup artist. Lancome is a luxurious makeup and skincare brand that epitomizes the French Touch with feminine, effortless Parisian-chic beauty. According to Ashlynne, while the brand is synonymous with a high end expensive older market, the brand is changing and evolving to attract a younger client base by introducing more colours andproducts to suit a younger market. Exciting stuff. So let’s dive right into – these are the must-have make-up products this spring, starting with skin prep of course, a clean canvas is of the utmost importance.

Lancome Advanced Youth activating concentrate serum.

ASHLYNN:  Skincare is very important because beauty starts from within. You need to prep your skin. You need to wash your face and do your full skin regimen before wearing makeup. Wash, exfoliate, serum, moisturiser then SPF. In the Lancome range, I highly recommend the Genifique range serum. It’s a youth-activating serum and contains pre and probiotic actives. It helps with the different signs of aging, it plumps the skin and within seven days you will see your skin is visibly rejuvenated. It helps give you back that healthy glow and hydrates your skin too.

FOUNDATION & CONCEALER

ASHLYNN: As we’re heading to the new season, we’re going more for glowy & dewy looks. More customers don’t want to look caked like they are wearing too much makeup. It’s about subtle yet striking features and highlighting. Darker concealer can also be used as a bronzer & a lighter one to conceal darker areas and highlight to brighten the face-up. A great light foundation for this season is Lancome’s Teint Miracle Hydrating Foundation for a healthy and natural look. It comes in several shades and can be built up for a fuller coverage look. The Teint idole Ultra wear “All over” concealer works perfectly to brighten and as a bronzer in a darker shade.

LIPS & CHEEKS

ASHLYNN: We are going for pops of colour, the pinks, the purples & corals, those are the shades that are popping at the moment. Lancome has a wonderful new product which is all in one for cheeks, and lips & can also be used as an eye shadow. It comes in different shades. The Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Drama Ink. It helps to have multipurpose.

SETTING SPRAY

ASHLYNN: For that last make-up fix, setting spray is very important. The Lancome “Fix it, Forget it” make-up setting spray is not sticky, it just melts in your skin. It sets your make-up & leaves you looking dewy & gorgeous.

To wrap up my visit Ashlynn was kind enough to give me a full make-up look using all the products mentioned above. I walked in looking like winter and stepped out like spring, fresh, dewy, blushing cheeks and with a warm glow. Next time you find yourself at Woolworths walmer park branch, head to the Lancome beauty counter and try out some of their products, you will be welcomed.
