Nelson Mandela University’s South Campus Auditorium will host a rare musical experience on Wednesday, 10 September at 19:00, when Trio Mosaic takes to the stage. The ensemble brings together three internationally acclaimed musicians – Liesl Stoltz (flute), Han Jonkers (guitar), and Nicolas Corti (viola) – whose diverse artistic journeys converge in a dynamic and distinctive collaboration.
Meet the Musicians
Liesl Stoltz, one of South Africa’s most celebrated flautists, trained in Stellenbosch before honing her craft in France and Italy under renowned masters like Shigenori Kudo and Pierre-Yves Artaud. With multiple international awards, including the ATKV Forté Prize, Liesl has performed with all major South African orchestras and regularly features at international festivals. She is currently a senior lecturer at UCT, where she promotes South African flute repertoire and continues to inspire the next generation of musicians.
Han Jonkers, a Dutch guitarist based in Switzerland, has made a global mark as both performer and educator. A prize-winner at top competitions, Jonkers has toured across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. He is not only an acclaimed soloist but also a driving force behind expanding the classical guitar repertoire, commissioning new works and recording for labels such as Cadenza and Pan Classics. He also directs the Boswil Guitar Festival in Switzerland.
Nicolas Corti, an accomplished violist from Switzerland, studied under his father Ottavio Corti before refining his skills in New York with Emanuel Vardi. A founding member of the Amati Quartet, Corti has performed worldwide with legendary musicians such as Krystian Zimerman and James Galway. Alongside performing, he has taught at the Zurich University of the Arts since 1996, shaping the next generation of chamber musicians.
