RECOGNIZED as one of the top premium wine shows in the country, The NEW Wine Show is back for a third year!

Focusing on bringing prominent wineries to Port Elizabeth to present premium quality wines to the local wine-loving & buying audience.
The Ideal show for real wine enthusiasts & collectors. One weekend every couple of months, we get blessed with a full weekend of cork popping. The New Wine Show has set its roots to stay in the Bay. My first experience with the show was last year, I was amazed at the high level of standard when it came to the brand showcasing because as we know from our dining experiences in Gqeberha, we have a reputation for being “cheap and cheerful.”Â
The show allows an enthusiast to speak in their favourite language, which is the wine of course, but it also unveils your palette to smaller boutique estates that you might never come across daily.
It has been interesting to see the new developments in Port Elizabeth when it comes to wine and dining experiences. I feel as though our cries have been heard and we’re finally being recognized for the beauty this city possesses. People in the city are very social and we have been in the dark for years on a never-ending hamster wheel of the same events and the same clubs so it’s been refreshing to see this much investment in our social life for the past few years.
The wine event started in October of 2021, the height of SA’s alcohol ban as part of the government trying to get a grip on the spread of Covid. The wine industry suffered the most during this time as shipping was closed down for any exporting to the international market and selling to the domestic market was banned for months, people lost their jobs as well farms. Unfortunately, we are all still dealing with the aftermath of Covid, but we can imagine how difficult it must have been to carry on with business after all those limitations.
The team behind the show is Frank van der Burg & Margot Ellis who worked at her family’s winery Neil Ellis. Each ticket is inclusive of all the wine tastings poured by the wine producers attending. You will also have the opportunity to purchase wine on the day for off-site consumption or order for home delivery. The chefs at The Club will be selling exciting small plated meals that pair perfectly with the wines that are presented at the show.
The exciting line-up of participating wineries includes Vriesenhof, Bon Courage, Survivor Wines, Chamonix, Fairview, La Bri, Nitida, Simonsig, Org de Rac, Saronsberg, Neil Ellis Wines, The High Road, and Black Elephant Vintners. Make sure to buy your tickets for the New Wine Show which will be held on the 6th and 7th of May 2023 at the PE St. Georges Club. Contact info@newineshow.co.za for more information. Tickets costs R299

Please make sure to support the New Wine Show if you’re interested so we can be graced with more of this beautiful event and help our wine industry to get back to where it was pre-Covid.
Cheers!
