For our 011 family, this one’s especially for you! If there’s one thing Joburg knows how to do, it’s show up for good vibes and great entertainment – and what better way to do that than with a royal evening of laughter? On Friday, 12 April, the spectacular Emperors Palace will be transformed into the ultimate comedy court as the Kings and Queens of Comedy return for a one-night-only celebration of all things funny.
Headlining this regal affair is the one and only Trevor Gumbi – a master of sharp humour and raw honesty, known for his fearless storytelling and signature energy on stage. Whether he’s taking shots at the chaos of adulting or diving into the hilarity of everyday life, Gumbi promises to have the crowd in stitches from the moment he steps on stage.
But he’s not coming alone. This show is stacked with some of the biggest names in the local comedy scene as Kings and Queens of Comedy celebrates 13 years of pure comedic excellence. That’s right – for over a decade, this iconic brand has brought together Mzansi’s funniest minds, providing a platform for up-and-coming stars while giving audiences front-row seats to South Africa’s sharpest wits.
In celebration of its milestone year, the line-up includes a mix of founding favourites and fresh fire. Returning to the stage are legendary acts like prankster supreme Darren ‘Wackhead’ Simpson, the brilliantly dry Chris Forrest, the socially savvy and charming Joey Rasdien, and the quick-witted and effortlessly hilarious Angel Campey – all of whom helped shape Kings and Queens into the powerhouse it is today.
The comedy crown continues to shine with performances by some of the best in the game: the charismatic Darren Alfred Adriaan, the bold and boundary-pushing Annalakshmi, seasoned veteran Muthu Murugan, award-winning stand-up queen Khanyisa Bunu, vocal powerhouse-turned-comedian Tracey-Lee Oliver, and the dynamic duo Conrad Koch and Chester Missing, bringing their signature blend of political satire and outrageous puppet comedy to the mix.
It’s a full house of heavy-hitters and a night Joburg audiences won’t want to miss. Whether you’re looking for an epic date night, a laugh-out-loud evening with friends, or simply a reason to dress up and head out, this show ticks all the boxes.
Tickets are officially on sale via Ticketpro, ranging from R150 to R550 – and with a line-up like this, they won’t last long.
So come through, 011! Dust off those crowns, grab your crew, and join us for a night of laughter fit for kings, queens, and everyone in between.
