Shannon Benting crowned Miss Supranational South Africa 2026

South Africa has its representative for one of the world’s biggest international pageants.

African Beauty International (ABI) has announced Shannon Benting of Northcliff, Gauteng, as Miss Supranational South Africa 2026. She will represent the country at the prestigious Miss Supranational pageant in Poland next month.

The announcement was made alongside the reveal of the Miss African Beauty South Africa 2026 Top 20, from which South Africa’s representatives for Miss World South Africa 2026 and Miss Universe South Africa 2026 will also be selected.

Miss Supranational 2026 takes place on 31 July at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheatre in Nowy SÄ…cz, Poland, where reigning titleholder Eduarda Braum of Brazil will crown her successor.

Benting, a 30-year-old model and content creator, says her mission extends far beyond the pageant stage.

Through her initiative, Beauty in Action, she works to connect underserved youth with mentorship opportunities, skills development programmes and community outreach initiatives. Her work is driven by the belief that while talent is universal, opportunity is not.

Her multicultural heritage includes South African Coloured roots as well as Chinese ancestry through both sides of her family, something she says has helped shape her appreciation for diversity, family and unity.

“Representing South Africa at Miss Supranational 2026 is a moment I will carry with me for the rest of my life,” said Benting.

“I have worked hard, dreamed big and stayed grounded in my purpose, and this feels like confirmation that showing up with authenticity and intention truly matters.

“I am walking onto that stage in Poland not just for myself, but for every young woman in South Africa who has been told that where she comes from is a limitation rather than a launching pad.”

African Beauty International CEO and national director of Miss Supranational South Africa, Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala, said Benting’s selection was about much more than appearance.

“Shannon stood out not simply for her beauty, but for the quiet, unshakeable clarity she has about who she is and what she wants to do with her platform,” she said.

“She understands that this title is not about a crown; it is about the doors it opens and the lives that can be changed as a result.”

Miss African Beauty South Africa is a national pageant that celebrates women making an impact in their communities and professions. This year’s finalists represent a wide range of fields including engineering, law, audiology, cancer biology, drama therapy and digital marketing.

The Top 20 contestants who remain in contention for the Miss World South Africa 2026 and Miss Universe South Africa 2026 titles include representatives from across the country, including Eastern Cape contestants Bongisisiwe Ndumela of Sterkspruit and Musa Daweti of Gqeberha.

Miss World 2026 is scheduled to take place in Vietnam on 5 September, while the 75th edition of Miss Universe will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

As Shannon Benting prepares to take to the international stage in Poland, South Africans will be hoping she can continue the country’s strong legacy of success in global pageantry.
