School Holiday Shows To Keep Your Little One Learning

WITH school holidays here and parents getting a momentary break from packing school lunches, ironing school clothes and trying to remember which school program to get to each day. We share some educational shows from Netflix to keep the little ones edutained…

Octonauts: Above & Beyond

The Octonauts expand their exploration beyond the sea โ€” and onto land! With new rides and new friends, they’ll protect any habitats and animals at risk.

Starring: Simon Greenall, Rob Rackstraw, Antonio Aakeel

We absolutely love Octonauts! It allows little ones to learn more about the ocean and its creatures in such a fun way, that they are oblivious to the learning aspect. Expect fun giggles and lots of catchy songs to keep them entertained for a while. The best part is that there are multiple series each with a different theme.

Our Planet: Behind the Scenes

Years spent recording footage of creatures from every corner of the globe is bound to produce a bit of drama. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look.

Starring: David Attenborough

You will easily get lost in the beauty of how each animal is captured, seeing the world from their perspective, it helps raise awareness of how to better look after our planet and all its inhabitants. From those who are very small to those who are larger than life.

All to the melodic narration of David Attenborough.

Story Bots: Answer Time

Got a question? The StoryBots have an answer! Join curious friends Beep, Boop, Bing, Bang and Bo on fun adventures to find facts for real kids like you.

Starring: Judy Greer, Jeff Gill, Nate Theis

StoryBots is every kid’s dream, as they have all the amazing and sometimes weird questions they have always been thinking about, be answered. Storybots does an amazing job is storytelling to find the answers of each child, in a way that makes it easy for them to understand. Along with catchy tunes, I often find myself watching and then forgetting my kids are at school.

Brainchild

From germs and emotions to social media and more, it’s the science of your world explained in a way that’s refreshingly relatable.

Starring: Sahana Srinivasan, Alie Ward, Ben Seidman

Creators: Adam Davis, Jerry Kolber

A bit of a how does this work, Brainchild is a millennial take on science. By using a fresh perspective on science while making it seem like something you encounter every day. It does so in such a smart manner without losing any of the necessary jargon.

Emilys Wonder Lab

Science-loving host Emily Calandrelli makes STEAM fun with activities, demonstrations and at-home experiments that’ll make you think โ€” and blow your mind!

Starring: Emily Calandrelli, Sky Alexis, Kennedi Butler

What I really loved about this show is how it captivated the fun of science in a short 15 minutes. Emily is able to make science experiments look so easy and loads of fun with so much freedom.

Not forgetting her bright pink overalls and preggy belly, it is a refreshing approach to seeing a woman in science with no holds barred!
