Sam Ludidi Steps Up as New Voice of Algoa FM’s Afternoon Drive

Algoa FM listeners are in for a fresh sound as radio and TV personality Sam Ludidi takes the reins of the Afternoon Drive Show this May, following Roland Gaspar’s departure to pursue a new chapter in digital content creation.

Ludidi, known for his engaging presence on Algoa FM’s Sunday lunchtime slot and his work with SuperSport, expressed his excitement about the new role:

“It is an absolute privilege to be offered the Drive Show,” said Ludidi, who is relocating from East London to Nelson Mandela Bay. “I look forward to immersing myself into this opportunity and building new friendships, networks, and connections. I can’t wait to be a part of Algoa Country’s everyday life during the week, and having listeners become a part of mine.”

Algoa FM’s Managing Director, Alfie Jay, praised Ludidi’s appeal:

“Sam is a big hit, not just with the former Springboks who often join him in studio ahead of and during televised rugby matches, but also with the SuperSport audiences. I have no doubt that the same will be true for Algoa FM’s listeners once he settles in.”

Roland Gaspar, after a decade with Algoa FM, including eight years as the Afternoon Drive host, is embarking on a new venture in online content creation. He explained that the demands of his upcoming projects, many of which involve travel outside Gqeberha, make it challenging to continue hosting the daily show. However, Gaspar will remain connected to Algoa FM through various roles, including Hitmobiles, stand-ins, and voice-overs.

“The time has come for me to pursue a new chapter in my creative journey,” Gaspar shared. “I can’t wait to announce the details and launch the online show, which will begin pre-production from 1 May.”

Listeners can look forward to Ludidi bringing his unique energy and experience to the Afternoon Drive, promising a blend of engaging content and community connection.
