SA Comedian Dalin Oliver Returns to Gqeberha After European Tour

South African comedian Dalin Oliver is back in the country after an incredible tour across Europe and the UK, where he performed in 18 cities and 7 countries, leaving audiences in stitches. Fresh from this whirlwind adventure, Oliver is ready to make South Africa laugh once again with his latest one-man show, 90 Day Comedian

With a mix of cultural observations, political satire, and a celebration of South African identity, 90 Day Comedian is more than just a comedy show – it’s a reflection on Oliver’s experiences over the past year, performing on international stages and gaining a fresh perspective on what it means to be proudly South African.

“I’ve always believed that South Africans have something truly special to offer the world,” says Oliver. “The world needs more of our spirit and humor, and I couldn’t be prouder to represent that abroad. But performing for South Africans is something else entirely – there’s a unique connection that can’t be replicated anywhere else.”

After kicking off his tour in Johannesburg, Oliver will now be making his way to Gqeberha on Thursday, 24, and Friday, 25 October 2024, with shows at The One Room Music & Comedy Club. Local audiences can look forward to 75 minutes of top-tier stand-up, packed with laugh-out-loud moments that tackle everything from cultural differences to the quirks of everyday South African life.

Oliver’s comedic journey has taken him from humble beginnings to international acclaim. His performance at prestigious events like the Fringe World Festival in Perth, where he won the Best Weekly Comedy Show Award, and his Bronze Standard Bank Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival in Makhanda, have cemented his place as one of the country’s top comedic talents. 90 Day Comedian is the culmination of these experiences, combining his travels with stories of life back home and his unique take on the world.

Reflecting on the creation of 90 Day Comedian, Oliver reveals that the show’s concept took shape during his time in Australia last year. “I spent two months performing across Australia, and during that time, I really got a feel for how different audiences react to comedy,” he explains. “The show’s title was inspired by my 90-day work visa, and from there, it developed into something much bigger as I traveled and performed in new places.”

While touring internationally has been a dream come true, Oliver is eager to reconnect with his home crowd. “Performing overseas was amazing, but there’s nothing quite like a South African audience. Our humor, our stories, and our culture are so rich, and that’s what this show is all about – celebrating who we are, both as individuals and as a country.”

The Gqeberha shows at The One Room promise an unforgettable night of laughter. Oliver has also given back to his local supporters by gifting five 041online readers each a set of double tickets to the performance, making it a night to remember for a few lucky fans.
