R22 Million Upgrade to Boost Electricity Supply to KwaNomzamo  in Humansdorp

The Boskloof Substation in Humansdorp is set to undergo a major R22 million upgrade, which will significantly enhance the electricity supply to the KwaNomzamo area.

The project includes the installation of a 15MW transformer and related equipment, boosting the substation’s capacity from 7 Mega Volt Amps (MVA) to 22 MVA. This substantial increase equates to powering more than 366,000 sixty-watt light bulbs, greatly benefiting the local community and its infrastructure.

This upgrade is especially crucial as it will provide the necessary electricity for the planned housing units under the KwaNomzamo Housing Project. This initiative, part of the broader Human Settlement Project approved in 2009, aims to improve living conditions and accommodate future growth in the area.

Kouga Executive Mayor, Hattingh Bornman, emphasised the project’s importance: “This development is vital for the region. The expanded capacity will not only ensure a reliable electricity supply but also lay the foundation for future growth in KwaNomzamo and its surrounding areas. It shows our commitment to sustainable infrastructure that supports community progress.”
