Plett Arts Festival 2025: A Celebration of Creativity, Connection and Culture

Plettenberg Bay is about to come alive with colour, sound, and creativity as the Plett Arts Festival returns from 3 to 12 October 2025. Known for its eclectic, playful, and soul-filled programme, this annual event blends chilled vibes with world-class artistry, offering something for everyone, from land art on the beaches to intimate concerts, thought-provoking exhibitions, and lively workshops.

Art Without Rules

This year’s theme is all about self-expression and connection. Expect a laid-back atmosphere where anything goes, whether you are debating whether “art speaks when words can’t” or snapping a selfie at a striking land art installation. The festival is a blank canvas for creativity, making it as much about what you feel as what you see.

The festivities officially open on 3 October with the much-loved Twilight Meander through Plett’s main street, setting the tone for 10 days of art, music, and conversation.

What to Expect

From jazz and fine art to film screenings, collaborative installations, cultural performances, and talks, the festival transforms Plett’s forests, beaches, restaurants, and galleries into stages and exhibition spaces. Highlights include:

  • Shows and events across town
  • Exhibitions of portraits, bronzes, pastels, and oils
  • Plett Land Art Route with artworks created in nature and shaped by it
  • Workshops and talks that bring audiences and artists together

The Plett Land Art Route

Presented by Plett Art Residency in collaboration with Plett Tourism, the Plett Land Art Route (3 to 12 October) is a must-see. Artists work directly with the natural environment, including beaches, estuaries, forests, and coastline, creating ephemeral works that respond to land and weather.

“Each year this event moves my heart and exceeds my expectations in every way. The future of this event is so inspiring and I am so grateful to each and every person that puts their time, energy and love into it to make it so magical,” says Daron Chatz, event director.

This year, Barrington’s is the official Land Art Hub, hosting the opening and closing events along with artist talks.

  • 3 to 7 October: Plett beaches and estuaries (Lookout Beach, Poortjies Estuary, Central Beach and Piesang Valley Estuary)
  • 8 to 12 October: Cairnbrogie Farm (Airport Road near Kranshoek)

New Attraction: FootGolf at Monkeyland

Adding to the excitement, Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary has launched FootGolf at Monkeyland, a nine-hole course combining fun, light exercise, and the beauty of nature. Perfect for families and groups, this new attraction is already creating a buzz for festival visitors.

Why You Shouldn’t Miss It

The Plett Arts Festival is more than an event. It is an invitation to connect with art, with nature, and with each other. Whether you are a jazz lover, a land art explorer, or simply in search of a soulful spring escape, Plett is the place to be this October.
