Nelson Mandela Bay is proud to announce that it will host the South Africa Water Polo inaugural Winter Series 2025 at the iconic Newton Park Indoor Pool from Friday, 8 August to Sunday, 10 August 2025.
This exciting national event will see top water polo teams from across the country battling it out in our city, showcasing sporting excellence, fostering community pride, and delivering a welcome boost to the local economy.
Executive Mayor Babalwa Lobishe said the tournament reflects the city’s growing stature as a leading sporting hub. “Nelson Mandela Bay is more than just a beautiful coastal city, we are fast becoming South Africa’s ultimate sporting destination of choice. Hosting national events like the Water Polo Winter Series not only brings top-tier athletes and visitors to our city but also inspires our youth, promotes healthy lifestyles, and creates economic opportunities for local businesses.”
Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Cllr Kwatsha, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of sport in community building. “This Winter Series is a win for our city.
