Fashion born from resilience takes centre stage in Gqeberha
A movement that began during one of South Africa’s most difficult periods is set to take centre stage in Gqeberha this August as NDIMNYAMA: Art Meets Fashion brings together fashion, visual art and live music for a one-night creative showcase.
Taking place on Friday, 28 August 2026, at The Juniper Lab, the exhibition promises an evening where local artists, musicians and designers come together to celebrate creativity, culture and community.
041Online is proud to come on board as the official media partner for the event, helping shine a spotlight on one of Nelson Mandela Bay’s emerging creative movements.
More than a clothing brand
Behind NDIMNYAMA are brothers Sibahle Wole and Simamkele Wole, two young entrepreneurs whose story is rooted in perseverance.
The pair launched the clothing brand during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 with little more than determination and a dream. Growing up between rural Peddie and Gqeberha’s Ezinyoka community, they faced significant challenges but remained committed to building something positive for themselves and those around them.
Rather than allowing difficult circumstances to define them, the brothers chose to create a brand that represents hope, ambition and self-belief.
“NDIMNYAMA isn’t just clothing,” they explain. “It’s about showing young people that your background doesn’t have to determine your future.”
A platform for young creatives
The exhibition expands on that vision by creating a space where different forms of creativity can meet.
Visitors can expect work from visual artists including Kikie Gahe and Aluta Soul, alongside live performances by Lxnd and other local talent.
By bringing together fashion, art and music under one roof, the organisers hope to encourage collaboration while showcasing the depth of creative talent that exists in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Creating opportunities through creativity
The team behind NDIMNYAMA believes many young South Africans lose confidence in their dreams because of limited opportunities and financial challenges.
Their message is simple: creativity can become a pathway to purpose.
Through events like Art Meets Fashion, they hope to inspire other young people to pursue their passions while building stronger creative communities across the city.
