041culture writer Mvume unpacks the escalating tensions between South Africa and the United States, diving into the messy dynamics of global politics and their potential impact on our nation.
When I tell you I am ENTHRALLED okay???
South Africa and the United States continue their messy break up as we as citizens watch with bated breath, waiting to see the outcome.
Washington is no longer taking our calls as calls grow for South Africa to cease the “genocide” of white people within our borders.
The GNU has been hard at work creating an action plan to address the ongoing attacks that occur daily on agricultural land, promising to deploy a task force to protect the producers of meat and produce in our nation, claiming, once more, that this is NOT a targeted white genocide, but instead, a crime syndicate looking to target farms as a soft target for their nefarious plans… my question is, “why did it take so long for anyone to say something?”
For too long, our country has allowed bad actors and frankly, unhinged people to cry wolf about the goings on in this country, begging and pleading for some international attention so that their big brothers from the North can come and beat up the mean black bullies in Africa.
Welp… here we are… they heard you guys… now what?
In an effort to keep the pressure up, thousands (out of millions) of Afrikaners arranged a protest to “Make South Africa Great AGAIN” and “Remove the ANC and take over the country” essentially calling for the return of apartheid and white minority rule.
Their best efforts, however, have had the unintended consequence of the United States deciding that the best plan of action is to give us the tried and tested “Cuba” treatment.
You see, the United States has historically been a country that specialises in dirty tricks to overthrow countries they don’t like. They’ll use language like “terrorist” or in our specific case, “Ëthnonationalist gangster regime”. To create the impression that the rulers of the country are power-hungry maniacs who lack the basic instincts of self-preservation.
They will make (successful) attempts to overthrow existing governments through controlled opposition like they did in, *checks notes – Iran, Guatemala, Congo, Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Brazil, Chile and more! And now it looks like it may be our turn to get a piping hot slice of “liberation”.
Should the plan to overthrow fail or the newly installed puppet refuse to tow the United States line, they fall back on old reliable… Sanctions!
Now, I’m no economist, but I know a little bit about a lot of things, and one of, if not the main reason, South Africa was forced to let go of Apartheid in the first place was because of the threat of sanctions that would render the economy of South Africa useless
In short, depending on the degree by which you are being sanctioned, your country loses the ability to trade across borders, leaving you with a pile of goods that can only be circulated within your borders. Now you’re probably thinking, “If there’s sanctions on SA, that means we can just sell amongst ourselves, by decreasing transport costs we should see our meat, fruit and vegetables become cheaper right?”
Wrong, I’m afraid the investment that goes into producing the meat and produce we export can only be offset by the favourable exchange rate returned from selling overseas. Meaning we will have one year of abundance as surplus produce will flood the market, followed by an indefinite period of famine as major producers abandon their interests for financial reasons, or, a situation where these goods are circulated within our borders at an insane mark up, like 20x or more, since there’s only one show in town, producers get the ability to set their price however they like.
We’ve seen this happen in Afghanistan, Belarus, Burma, Central Republic of Congo, China, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Nicaragua, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, Sudan (regular and South) Syria, Venezuela and Yemen. Zimbabwe’s sanctions came from the OG colonizer, Great Britain so I will not unfairly add this body to the US’ count of opps.
The first thing you’ll notice is how many of the previously overthrown countries seem to also appear on the sanction list, the second thing you’ll notice is, apart from China (the largest exporter of literally everything) and Russia (the largest energy producing country in the world) , most of the guys on the list are really poor and the war buffs among you may also notice how many of these country had some kind of war erupt on their soil as well.
That is no coincidence, that is a result of a solid game-plan that nobody has figured out how to beat yet. The old one-two punch from the old red, white and blue.
Cool story, so we’re finished right? Eh… maybe not. We still have a strong allied partnership with the BRICS nations (although the Indian prime-minister was recently seen meeting with a United States leadership a week or two ago, The US and Russia are rebuilding their relationship as cease-fire talks continue over the conflict in Ukraine, leaving us in an awkward position, holding our date’s purse while she dances with the biggest bully in the room
Personally, I think this is a good thing for the BRICS alliance. The initial idea here was to dethrone the United States as the main global superpower, remove the financial hold it has on our planet and give the “little guy” a chance at economic freedom and fair pay. However, in my personal experience, I’ve never seen a bully just quietly accept their loss.
No, they will go out in a blaze of glory, taking out as many opposition as they can on their way out the door, furniture will move, there will be misunderstandings and miscommunications, and with all the weird reports about billionaires buying up bunkers en-masse in the last few years, I think the best thing to do is to find and amicable, workable solution to the problem, which many of our partners have already begun brokering.
Now it’s our turn to make nice with the bully. But with Elon and his “Roman” saluting buddies at the helm, I worry that we may never see the bright future BRICS promised, leaving us as the permanent underfoot figure in global commerce… But there’s always hope. We can only maintain a positive attitude, and do the best we can every day to make this country a better place today, than it was yesterday.
I don’t believe that this is the end of us as a nation. I don’t think a fight with the US is a good idea since they are still a top 5 military in the world with AI as their secret weapon, i’ve seen those robot dogs with machine guns on their backs that Boston Dynamics have created and I know that any country foolish enough to go to war with them has little to no chance of survival. Plus… if I’m going to keep it all-the-way real, I’m not enlisting to fight for this country… no thanks… They got it. I’ll be in the kitchen with the women and children bro…
Look after yourselves, and if you happen to have a spare bunker laying around, give me a call!
