This week, 041 shines a spotlight on Limpho Jack, a rising star in Gqeberha’s marketing scene, who found inspiration in the unlikeliest of places—soap operas.

Limpho Jack, a rising star in Gqeberha, discovered his passion for marketing through an unlikely source: soap operas. Inspired by the clever product placements he saw in shows like Generations, where real-world brands seamlessly blended into the narrative, Jack saw the potential of storytelling in advertising. His big break came with a guest spot on Housewives of GQ, which quickly launched him into the local media scene. Now, Jack is on a mission to elevate digital marketing and creative careers in Gqeberha, challenging traditional views and proving that innovative thinking can drive success.
Jack’s journey into marketing began with his fascination for how cultural shifts were mirrored in TV shows and their advertising. “I was captivated by the way Generations integrated ads into the storyline, like the Capitec Bank spot by the fictional Ezweni agency,” he recalls. This early exposure to the blend of storytelling and marketing ignited his passion for the field.
His entry into the spotlight came through a chance encounter with Buli G, a prominent PR figure in Gqeberha, during the Mr. Ubermann PE campaign in 2022. His standout performance in the campaign caught her eye, leading to a feature on Housewives of GQ. “That experience was a turning point,” Jack says. “It opened up so many doors and introduced me to the world of marketing and media.”
Despite his early success, Jack has faced challenges, especially in a market where digital marketing and creative careers are often undervalued. “In Gqeberha, fields like modeling, acting, and digital marketing are seen more as hobbies than legitimate careers,” he explains. Jack aims to change this perception by educating local businesses about the value of these industries and advocating for more opportunities for young professionals.
Jack’s approach to his career is inspired by the principles he learned from fitness: balance, consistency, and discipline. Whether he’s on a photo shoot, designing digital content, or acting in a commercial, he applies the same dedication and effort. “Fitness taught me that what you put in is what you get out, and that mindset has been crucial in my marketing work,” he says.
Looking ahead, Jack is focused on growing his personal brand into a comprehensive marketing firm that offers everything from graphic design to full-scale branding campaigns. “I don’t want to be just an influencer; I want to work with brands that are doing great work but aren’t getting the recognition they deserve,” he shares. “My goal is to help elevate these brands and contribute to the digital growth of our local economy.”
With new collaborations on the horizon, including projects with Alpha Sport Nutrition and Bidvest G.Fox, Jack is more motivated than ever. His advice to others in the industry? “Stay persistent, be adaptable, and always embrace what makes you unique. In marketing and freelancing, it’s all about building relationships, staying visible, and delivering quality work.”
Limpho Jack is not just building his own brand; he’s helping to build the future of marketing in Gqeberha, proving that with passion and persistence, anything is possible.
