Student leaders from The IIE’s Varsity College, IIE Vega, and IIE MSA campuses across South Africa recently completed a six-week online Student Self-Leadership course presented by the Blanchard Institute South Africa. This training aimed to empower students with leadership skills to help them become effective and influential leaders within their campus communities.
The course introduced participants to key leadership concepts such as self-awareness, goal setting, communication, and team building. Through proven methodologies and experienced trainers, the Blanchard Institute equipped students with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in various leadership roles.
Ntumeleng Babafemi, a first-year Bachelor of Laws student at Varsity College Nelson Mandela Bay, reflected on the impact of the training: “The leadership training was incredibly valuable. One of the key takeaways was the importance of self-reflection and personal growth. I learned to identify my strengths and weaknesses and focus on self-improvement, setting goals, and developing discipline. I also realized that leading by example is crucial—before inspiring others, you must first work on yourself.”
With these newfound leadership skills, the students are now better prepared to lead their peers and make a positive difference in their campus communities.
