041online partnered with Inside Out Picnics to treat moms in Kariega to some Mother’s Day spoils, as part of the celebrations every mom was urged to write a letter to their younger selves.

Various sponsors came on board to make the day extra special, including Nacah Schoolwear and Woolworths Beauty Walmer Park who allowed 041 to spoil the moms in attendance.

The event was held at Feraux Koffiewinkel in Kariega and here are some of the notes written by the grateful moms.

Notes To Their Younger Selves

  • I hope that you will be a loving and caring mom, a fun mom, a mom that practices patience
  •  You’re a planning person, and you want to become a mom at 30. You are in for a surprise. You will be 28 and find yourself crying, crying out of joy, crying out for shock. You will feel a lot of emotions but at the end of it, you will enjoy every part of the journey.
  • At 20, you will be unprepared for the journey. A journey that includes losing mom when you need her the most. But I thank God that she saw her first grandchild before passing. I’m thankful that how she raised me, made me the strong woman I am today.
  • I never prepared myself to be a mom, To be honest, I didnt want to become a mom. But you won’t regret being a mom because it will change you into the woman I am today. The past three years have been the best of my life – you will enjoy motherhood so much.
  • It was/is a hell of a ride. But if someone were to ask me if I was willing to do it again….I’d say without a doubt. I love where I am right now. I wouldn’t change it for the world. But could you give me your figure/body, please?
  • Motherhood is magical, don’t compare yourself to others have fun writing your own story. Don’t stress about the little things and celebrate every moment with your daughter, shes amazing.
  • Motherhood is a rollercoaster with loads of ups and downs. It’s beautiful and ugly at the same time. It requires patience. It’ll teach you patience. Your mother is doing the best with what she has and one day so will you. So be kind, be graceful. You are doing the best you can.
  • Motherhood is not easy but you will learn something new every day.
  • You believe motherhood will be cupcakes and rainbows…Happy family, clean house, healthy meals, fun activities, outings, a house full of laughter and beautiful memories….but note, it’s also hard work, happy and joyous but hard…
  • Thank you for believing in yourself and working hard towards your goals. Well done for not listening to those who tried to box you in and believed you would not amount to anything. Motherhood taught me that God saw in me something so great that he even entrusted me with another human being to raise. I also learned along the way that in life you need to believe in yourself and it’s a complete bonus if someone else also believes in you.
  • Being a mom will not be easy, try to take everything in your stride, and your kids will look to you to be home. Caring for another human being is a huge job but take it all in and enjoy being a mom.
  • I know we said we didn’t want kids, didnt want the responsibility, the anxiety, the fears. Sadly you do end up with the worst heartbreak imaginable and have to bury your firstborn, but now you have another child. You get to see the best of you in a little person full of hope and wonder – The fear is worth it,
