Kariega born and raised Sylvester Williams is proving just that, by being the only Eastern Cape entrant to become a semi-finalist in the bid to claim the title of Mr Central SA 2023, a title that holds so much more than the suggested pageantry.

Mr. Central SA is piloted by acclaimed Director and Owner of Radiant Productions, in Bloemfontein, Theo King. The pageant aims to find a candidate who will be the spokesperson and face for the fight against gender-based violence that Mr. Central SA stands for.
Most contestants are from in and around Bloemfontein, Sylvester is the first contestant from the Eastern Cape to join the programme since its inception in 2019. We will be rooting for our home-grown semi-finalist who will attend the crowning on 14 October 2023, at the Sand du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein.
With a few months to go before the big day, Sylvester is already filling his calendar with events to raise awareness and support for victims of gender-based violence. He will be presenting two events over the course of Women’s Month, starting with “Women in Business-Beauty After Bruises Breakfast” on 12 August and “Fashion Walks Against Gender-Based Violence -Fashion Event” on 26 August. Both events are in support of victims of what has been described as an increasing epidemic in South Africa.
The Women in Business-Beauty After Bruises Style Breakfast promises a morning of fulfilment and empowerment with Pastor Cheryl Pillay, Marenda Speelman and Yolanda Brown as guest speakers—each woman with a passion for empowering women in their own unique way.
Pastor Cheryl Pillay is Senior Pastor at Love Life Family Church and boasts a Degree in Theology and a Degree in Biblical Counselling. Mother of two describes herself as a praying woman, a praying mother and a praying wife whose calling and purpose is to serve God’s great people.
Marenda Speelman is a Graaf-Reinett born designer. She is the Founder and Creative Designer of QueenM Style and has travelled a difficult journey in life, facing many challenges. As a driven and hard-working single mother, she believes that knowledge is power, and her passion is to see women rise with her. It’s this drive and passion that has helped her uplift so many women as a partner of the organisation “Tribe”.
Yolanda Brown hails from Joe Slovo and, at the tender age of 23, is the owner and founder of the renowned brand, Just Creations! With honours in Psychology, she not only knows how to boost your image but your well-being too.
