Introducing Entrepreneur Chad Varnicker’s Nelson Mandela Bay

FOR the next few weeks, we will be asking the people of Nelson Mandela Bay what they love about the metro.

We hope to shine some light on just what it is that makes Nelson Mandela Bay and its residents so proud to call it home.

Please introduce yourself

My name is Chad Varnicker. I’m a business owner, ambassador, singer, model, pageant judge and man with zest for life and love for people.

Where do you always take guests, to show off NMB

Kariega Game Reserve is a beautiful place. I did a shoot there and suggested it to my Corporate clients. They loved it.  The best I’ve ever been to. My friends from London will be visiting in August and I suggested that we go there.

Where is your favourite place to eat?

I’m out a lot. I’m on a first-name basis with many local establishments. It really depends on what I’m in the mood for. I like Hussar Grill as well as Coachman on the Bay.

Where is your favourite place to relax?

Undoubtedly the beach. Sardinia Bay, specifically. I’m a coffee addict. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to coffee shops in the Bay. Although I have my favourites, I’m always keen to try places I’ve never been before.

Which spot holds real significance for you?

It’s always been on my bucket list to do a campaign shoot with my mom. Just before the covid pandemic, we did a campaign photoshoot for Twizza at Donkin Reserve Pyramid and Lighthouse. After the shoot, we walked around just conversing. It’s a special memory, I treasure.

Where do you like to shop?

Baywest Mall for sure. I like the space, but Walmer Park has always been my go-to. My favourite clothing store, (YDE) however is in Greenacres.

Which is your favourite NMB market?

Norm Hudlin Market. So much to do and see.

Where can you be found on weekends?

I have my own business, We specialise in events management. I mostly work on weekends. I also emcee many events. I don’t have the luxury of downtime on weekends. When I do I like to travel when possible.

What have you not done in the / or haven’t gone but really want to?

I really want to go camping. We used to go camping every year as a family at different camping sites but since Dad passed on,  I haven’t been. I was still very young and I don’t remember much but I’d like to relive those experiences.

What is your wish for the city?

That NMB would become a main attraction for tourists. We have spectacular scenery and excellent blue-flag beaches. We have so much to see and so much to offer. We must utilise our resources more effectively when it comes to advertising and promoting our beautiful city.
