It is an unpleasant truth that many South African children are removed from their families and placed in homes like Zanethemba by court order.
What does Zanethemba baby haven do
Zanethemba provides therapeutic services, education, nutrition, access to medical assistance and most importantly, love, to help children trust and love again.
They work closely with the Department of Social Development and various Child Welfare Organisations. The children remain in their care until a permanent solution is made.
Where do the children go after they leave the haven?
When children leave Zanethemba, their unique circumstances dictate whether are reunited with their biological parents, fostered by a biological family member (like an aunt or granny), placed in foster care with non-family foster parents, adopted or placed in a children’s home.

They aim to create a family environment for the children. “We believe every child is wonderful and fearfully made by our Heavenly Father and we see it as our task to protect the uniqueness of the child, to provide for the tools necessary to aid the development of the child and to create an environment in which the child can prosper whilst feeling loved and wanted.”
