WE have been asking the people of Nelson Mandela Bay what they love about the metro. We hope to shine some light on just what it is that makes Nelson Mandela Bay and its residents so proud to call it home. Today we talk to Charne Terblanche a self-confessed introvert who has gained over 33thousand followers on TikTok sharing funny slice-of-life content about her life as a mom and wife.

Please introduce yourself

I’m Charne Terblanche, a 29-year-old Educator from the Bay.

Where do you always take guests, to show off NMB

NMB is such a beautiful, underrated City and not many know of its true beauty. Aside from our beautiful beachfront, I love showing off the beauty of nature. One such place would be the Van Stadens Wild Flower Reserve hiking trail. The hiking trail is breathtaking, with beautiful picnic spots and braai facilities. Another beautiful scenic location would be Sardinia Bay. My children call it the “Moana beach” as it shows off beautiful pearly sands and the bluest, purest ocean-quite relaxing. Another one of my FAVOURITES would be the Kragga Kamma Game Reserve. With amazing accommodation in the wild and beautiful free-roaming animals, it is truly one of the most tranquil places I’ve visited in the Bay-a must see!

Where is your favourite place to eat?

I have many favourite restaurants, but one that stands out for me is definitely Beer Yard.  The atmosphere is amazing for both young and old, and the food is affordable and amazing! Beer Shack, Garden Club and Angelo’s are top contenders too!

Where is your favourite place to relax?

My absolute Favourite place to relax is the beach- King’s Beach to be exact. It is perfect for long romantic walks or just a peaceful moment to yourself!

Which spot holds real significance for you?

King’s Beach holds real significance for me as this is the spot I got engaged to the love of my life 9 years ago.

Where do you like to shop?

Boardwalk Mall offers such convenience! I get to do my shopping all the while getting in a bit of recreational fun with plenty of restaurants and a movie theatre on the premises and not to mention, the beach is within walking distance.

Where can you be found on weekends?

If I’m not home spending time with family, you could definitely find me in nature. Long strolls on the beach, park walks with the family or shopping!

What have you not done in the city but really want to?

I would love to go zip lining at Adrenalin Addo Adventure Park.

What is your wish for the city?

I wish for continued growth and prosperity!
