Hardly Eating But Can’t Shake The Weight Off?

DO you find yourself making drastic dietary changes, but still can’t seem to shake the weight off? Our Fitness columnist Nadine Lahana, does not believe in fad diets or punishing yourself, and is opening the floor to questions.

There are a number of reasons for this, ranging from raging to failing hormones. Your small portions could be small portions of all the wrong foods (not all calories are created equal)…or perhaps your muscle mass is significantly low because your gym budget doesn’t extend to a personal trainer with a custom-designed fat-burning program…

Or is it that your energy output is actually surprisingly lower than your calorie intake (small as it seems)?

You’re weighing and measuring and reading the small print on the nutritional info..watching the carb count and even leaving that little biscotti to go soggy on the side of your skinny plant milk latte.

To add to this, your boyfriend is losing faster than you even though you’re on the same diet and your Keto-loving friends are all getting skinny on fat  while you’re still on the same belt notch (but at least you don’t have diarrhoea right?)

If you’re feeling the frustration of scrimping on sauces and poking at salads, only to find those bathroom scales never seem to hit the jackpot for you, it sounds like it’s time for you to weigh in on the fundamentals of “weight loss”.

As a Health Professional in the industry for over 20 years, a 50..something, yet to experience symptoms of menopause, lowered energy levels (if anything they’re increasing year by year!) or yo-yo weight gains and losses,  I like to feel that I’m in a place to give advice.
