Gqeberha Tyla fans to celebrate new album with A*Pop listening party

Fans of South African music sensation Tyla will have the chance to celebrate the release of her highly anticipated second album, A*Pop, at a dedicated fan listening party in Gqeberha later this month.

The event takes place on Friday, 31 July 2026, from 6pm to 9pm at the Champagne Room at St James Restaurant on Heugh Road in Walmer. Tickets are available through Quicket.

A fan-led celebration

The listening party is one of several fan-organised events taking place across South Africa after official album listening sessions were announced for selected cities in Europe and the United States, with no South African dates included.

Rather than miss out, Tyla’s dedicated fanbase, known as the Tygers, organised their own celebrations in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and now Gqeberha.

The event will give local fans an opportunity to experience the new album together in a themed celebration of the Grammy-winning artist’s latest chapter.

Honouring an African pop star

Speaking at a listening event in Berlin, Tyla explained the inspiration behind the album.

“I always wanted to be a pop star growing up and for this album, I really wanted to honour that childhood dream. A*Pop is about being an African pop star and honouring the little Tyla in me.”

The album will officially be released on Friday, 24 July 2026, and will be available on all major music streaming platforms.
