Get Ready, Cape Town: The Museum of Illusions Is About to Blow Your Mind

Reality is about to get twisted in the Mother City – literally.

Cape Town, hold onto your senses – the Museum of Illusions is landing on Kloof Street this Saturday, 31 May 2025, bringing over 60 mind-bending experiences that will flip your perspective, mess with your mind, and leave your camera roll full of “what just happened?” moments.

Already a massive hit in Johannesburg since launching last July (breaking global attendance records), the Mother City is next in line to experience the sensory playground that has taken the world by storm. Think Barcelona, Paris, Shanghai, New York, Dubai – and now, Cape Town joins the global family as the 61st Museum of Illusions worldwide.

“Cape Town’s creativity and curiosity make it the perfect home for our next sensory playground,” says Mark Collie, owner of the Museum of Illusions South Africa. “This isn’t just a museum – it’s where science, art, and wonder collide to challenge how we see the world and ourselves.”

What to Expect

  • Defy gravity in the Tilted Room
  • Lose your head (or multiply it) in the Clone Table
  • Step into the Infinity Room where reality loops back on itself
  • And yes, you’re encouraged to touch everything

Forget “look but don’t touch” – this is a fully interactive, high-energy, and wildly photogenic space where kids, creatives, corporates, and content creators can all lose themselves in illusion.

Cape Town, This One’s for You

The Museum of Illusions Cape Town is perfect for:

  • Curious kids and big kids at heart
  • Birthday parties and team building events
  • School field trips with serious “wow” factor

It’s fun-meets-fascination, designed to educate while entertaining – also known as “edutainment” at its finest.
