I haven’t stopped saying “no ways” all year.
We start with the “hawk tuah” girl going missing after performing a “rugpull” on all her fans, for those of us who aren’t tapped in to the crypto world, a rugpull is when you create a coin (bitcoin, dogecoin etc) control the supply, promise your supporters to hold the asset for a certain amount of time, then once the supporters have bought up enough of the supply, raising the value to a certain amount, you pull out all your investment in the asset, pocketing the money they spent on buying your coin while simultaneously devaluing the asset resulting in the investors losing all their money and stuck holding a worthless token.
This is the new get-rich-quick scheme amongst influencers online and is easily the best way to legally steal from the people who support you. That woman ran off with the money and hasn’t been on social media since.
Further abroad our African American friend Elon was on stage next to President Trump, performing what appears to be a N*zi salute (you know, where you put your hand to your chest then extend fully at a 45-degree angle?)
That isn’t the weirdest part though, the weird part is the Anti-Defamation League agrees that he was just excited and had an “autistic tick”, and did not do a salute, instead it was a gesture of love and support to the crowd and his colleagues behind the podium. The same organization that caused an athlete to lose his endorsement deals for sharing a link to a movie on his Instagram, the same organisation that turned a billionaire into a centimillionaire overnight over some tweets. Strange times…
Back home the GNU is on its own mission to cause chaos as President Ramaphosa signs the Land Expropriation Act into law, an act that seeks to claim privately owned land for public interest. While we are still waiting for more information about this bill the people who voted for the DA (I don’t need to tell you who they are) are disgusted!
They’re blaming the DA and labelling them as sell outs for not having their best interest at heart… We tried to warn you guys (I don’t need to tell you who “we” is)
News reports of multiple farm murders continue to miss the news cycle somehow… one where a son in his 50s “Un-alived’ his own mother, another where a 27-year-old took his grandmother out and another where the wife of a farmer put a hit out on her own husband for reasons we don’t quite understand yet.
A Houghton couple have been arrested for possession of 10 million images of illegal, porn… 10 million… the investigation is ongoing.
It’s a soupy mess ladies and gentlemen.
Some good news though, Namibia and Thailand have finally legalised same-sex marriage, giving their citizens the freedom to finally love out loud and not be restricted by law to hide. ( I couldn’t believe that same-sex marriage was illegal in Thailand, the home of the Katoey (Ladyboy).
The Soil and our homegrown good sis Amanda Black will return to the bay for the Nelson Mandela Bay Arts festival taking place from the 22/02/2025-02/03/2025 and for the first time ever, South African lawmakers are looking at ways to deport immigrants who are currently incarcerated in South African prisons, back to their home countries which should serve as relief for the tax-payer who has been financially fighting for their lives for as long as i can remember. I couldn’t believe that there are around 22 0000 foreign nationals in our South African prisons.
But in closing,I know there’s a lot of sad and scary news out there. Things that could be seen as catastrophic but let’s remain optimistic. It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking the world is ending just because the things you know and love are changing. But I am sure that there is light at the end of this tunnel… If you are going through it, struggling in your own ways and cannot cope, my heart goes out to you. If you are afraid that the government will actually take your land from under you, my heart goes out to you. We’ll be fine, I promise.
