EP Women’s Cricket team heading for promotion

The 2024/2025 season is shaping up to be particularly exciting for the Eastern Province Women’s cricket team as they strive for promotion to Division 1.

This follows a 2023/2024 cricket season in which the EP Women’s Team was unbeaten in both the 50-over and T20 competitions.

At present the team competes in the CSA Division 2 Provincial Women’s Cricket Competitions, which include 50-over and T20 formats.

In April 2024 the team continued its winning streak at the inaugural CSA National Women’s Cricket Week (50-over format) in Oudtshoorn, with a stellar performance to top the standings with five wins from five matches.

This season carries high hopes for the team, which has been working hard to achieve their goal of advancing to the top tier of South African women’s cricket.

With a solid mix of young talent and experienced players, the team’s performance this season will be crucial to realizing their Division 1 dreams.

Their aspirations reflect the broader push within CSA to professionalize and elevate the women’s game across the country, ensuring opportunities for players at all levels of the sport.

Speaking at the announcement of the EP Women’s team, EP President Donovan May said “we were very excited at the success of the team last season and believe they have the determination and skills to play in the professional league.

“Our aim is to have three professional teams in the Eastern Cape namely the Dafabet Warriors, the Sunrisers and our EP Women’s team.

“We wish the EP Women well this season in their bid to advance to Division 1”.

The team is as follows:

Iman Bonnasse, Aphilile Adonisi, Jordan Cole, Namhla Ngxande, Lunambitho Gana, Zizipho Mdebeuka, Siyanda Tyesi, Asaphila Jani, Chene Arnolds, Tarran January, Lee-Ann Glass, Siyamthanda Koloi, Siphokazi Nazo (Capt), Amber Botha (Vice Capt), Monique Ferreira, Asanda Mbodla.
