ECMeetup, an influencer-focused, eventing and PR company based in Gqeberha hosted their first official meetup after the Covid pandemic and said this is just the beginning.
041online editor Eleanor Douglas-Meyers is one of the founding members of the organisation and facilitated collaboration with ECMeetup in a bid to get more of the city’s content creators to share their views on the platform and create a more diverse magazine.
The Women’s Month-themed event took place at the pink and pretty Serendipity Coffee shop and attendees listened to the Owner of Krulkop Society, Abegail Witbooi share her journey of turning her passion into a successful business.
“No matter where you are in your journey, there is validity in what you do as long as you do it with sincerity and passion,” she shared.
The event was supported by various small businesses from around the Bay such as Candy Coated, Gourmet Graze, Kaycee Cakes, Orbits, and Serendipity Coffee Shop who ensured the guests were well fed while KFC, Masterton, NMB Tourism, Snuggly Teepee, The Green Fairy Woolworths Beauty Walmer Park, 041online and Cadbury sent the guest home with well-stocked goodie bags.
“We hosted an event last year with the assistance of NMB tourism, that was an informal picture-based event that we used to suss out the interest from influencers was after our hiatus, we were pleasantly surprised by how many new content creators had signed up, and wanted to work with us,” said Luchae Williams, one of the organisers.
Prior to the lockdown, ECMeetUp, regularly hosted influencer events creating space for bloggers, content creators, and influencers to network and learn from industry experts, while giving brands an opportunity to partner with up-and-coming creatives.
“The influencer landscape has changed with blogging giving way to social media content creators. However despite the change in medium, the goal remains the same,” said Ranique Roberts.
“The annual ECMeetUp convention hosts more than 60 influencers per event and we also host smaller niche-specific events, in a more intimate setting.”
The ECMeetUp database consists of award-winning bloggers. up-and-coming creatives and influencers who have established their place in the native advertising market.
“We will continue to host events like this, teaching and learning together and proving that the often overlooked Eastern Cape content creator market is worth investing in.”
