Eastern Cape Filmmakers Invited to Pitch Projects to Industry Leaders at FAME Week Africa

Filmmakers and content creators from the Eastern Cape have a new opportunity to take their ideas to the next level, with applications now open for the ECDC Project Pitch Platform at FAME Week Africa.

The initiative, launched in partnership between FAME Week Africa and the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), is looking for film, television, documentary and other screen-based projects that are filmed in, set in, or inspired by the Eastern Cape.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to pitch their projects directly to representatives from the ECDC, the Eastern Cape Film Investment Fund (ECFIF) and other invited industry decision-makers during FAME Week Africa, taking place from 28 to 30 October 2026 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

A chance to showcase Eastern Cape stories

The platform aims to connect local storytellers with funding opportunities while highlighting the Eastern Cape as a destination for film and television production.

Applicants will need to demonstrate why the Eastern Cape is central to their project and explain how their production will benefit the province. This includes outlining:

  • How the province’s people, cultures, languages and locations are represented authentically.
  • The project’s potential to reach national and international audiences.
  • The economic impact the production will have in the Eastern Cape.
  • How much of the production budget will be spent within the province.
  • Opportunities the project will create for local businesses, cast, crew and emerging creatives.

The initiative places equal emphasis on compelling storytelling and meaningful economic development, encouraging productions that create long-term opportunities for the province’s growing creative sector.

Applications close in August

Applications for the Eastern Cape Project Pitch Platform close on 14 August 2026.

Successful applicants will be invited to participate in exclusive closed-door pitching sessions during FAME Week Africa, where they will present their projects to key industry stakeholders with an interest in supporting productions connected to the Eastern Cape.

Why this matters for Nelson Mandela Bay

Nelson Mandela Bay has become an increasingly popular filming destination thanks to its diverse locations, talented creative community and growing production industry. Opportunities such as the ECDC Project Pitch Platform give local filmmakers, producers and content creators the chance to access funding, build industry connections and bring Eastern Cape stories to audiences both locally and internationally.

Creators interested in applying can submit their projects through the official application form before the deadline of 14 August 2026.
