Dealers from the Eastern Cape have earned national recognition in recent performance awards within MTN South Africa’s dealer network, with businesses in East London, Mthatha and KwaBhaca ranking among the top performers in the country.
The recognition forms part of MTN’s One More Time Incentive Programme, which measures dealer performance across products including home internet, business uncapped services and fibre.
Eastern Cape dealers recognised nationally
SMS Mobile, based in East London and led by owner and managing director Sydwell Maqula, recorded strong performance in the fourth quarter of 2025. The business achieved 217% of its Fixed Wireless Access target, with combined performance across wireless and fibre reaching 183% for the quarter. Monthly results exceeded 200% in both October and November.
The dealer has consistently ranked among top performers across multiple quarters in 2025 and was awarded three VW Caddy vehicles as part of the incentive programme.
Ntlesco Trading and Projects, led by Nangamso Ntlemeza, operates MTN franchise stores in Mthatha and KwaBhaca and employs more than 30 people. During the fourth quarter, the business achieved 144% of its target in October, increasing to 162% in November. The performance resulted in an R80 000 incentive award.
Afrikan Adage, owned by Shirley Koaho, was named Operator of the Year for 2025 in the 1 to 5 Stores category. The business competed against 24 dealers nationally and exceeded targets across key performance indicators, including customer service, operational standards and sales performance.
Programme focus on growth and access
All three businesses form part of MTN South Africa’s Branded Retail Transformation programme, which focuses on supporting local entrepreneurs within the company’s retail network.
The programme aims to expand access to connectivity services while contributing to enterprise development and job creation across communities.
Songezo Masiso, General Manager for Regional Operations in the Eastern Cape at MTN South Africa, said the recognition reflects the performance of local dealers within the network.
“These dealers show what is possible when local entrepreneurs are supported and given opportunities to grow. They continue to contribute to their communities while delivering strong business results.”
Regional impact
The recognition of multiple Eastern Cape dealers at a national level highlights the role of regional businesses in delivering connectivity services and supporting local economies.
As demand for digital access continues to grow, dealer networks remain a key point of access for households and small businesses across the country.
