New Brighton’s rising force, City Defenders FC, made a massive statement this past weekend — bagging two major trophies in 72 hours.

On Saturday, Defenders lifted the Majola Easter Tournament trophy after a dominant run, setting the tone for a historic double. But they weren’t done yet.

Less than 24 hours later, they did it again — clinching the Anku Gcisa Memorial Tournament title, hosted by P.E Rovers FC. The one-day event featured four teams: City Defenders FC, E.Jumpers FC, Dodgers FC, and the hosts, P.E Rovers.

In their opening match, Defenders were pushed all the way by E.Jumpers, with the game locked at 1-1 after full time. But they kept their cool to edge through on penalties and book a spot in the final.

Once there, it was all Defenders — hammering P.E Rovers 4-0 in a commanding display to seal their second title of the weekend.

Now, with silverware already in the cabinet, City Defenders FC are turning their attention back to the league. They sit second on the table after 16 games, and with 14 matches still to go, momentum is firmly on their side.
